As Mayoral administrations change over time, the Foundation remains independent and non-partisan strategically focusing on the long-term health of our City and its residents.

History of the Foundation

The Baltimore City Foundation was established in 1981 by ex-mayor William Donald Schaefer. The original purpose of the Foundation was to provide the capacity of Baltimore City agencies to work with the private and philanthropic partners to support health and human service priorities.
